Concrete retaining wall - Haydock
Our client over the last few months has had a state of the art biomass boiler system installed into there factory which will produce enough energy to heat there entire 12,000 square meter factory. It has required us to undertake various groundworks, primarily we layed a 600mm reinforced slab with a 150mm thick, 12m radius circle cast on top of it. I will further explain this part of the project in a future post.
The boiler is inside the warehouse and the floor was split level, connected by a ramp. To fit all the components of the boiler the ramp had to be removed and a new larger 200mm reinforced concrete slab was cast.
Now that everything has been installed for the boiler and its all up and running they have been left with a existing slab that is roughly 500mm higher than the boiler room floor unaccessible.
We suggested casting a new ramp and then use a Doka frami panel system to construct a retaining wall which would also tie in and make good the existing concrete slab on the higher level.
The lower slab and upper slab were both doweled and then linked with mesh fabric. The concrete was poured and then pokered to ensure all voids were removed from the slab to increase strength and integrity.
We achieved a great finish and provided a cost efficient solution for our client.
